Time Away from Primary Training Center In the Airline Career Pilot Program

In an effort to maximize the efficiency of the Airline Career Pilot Program, you will likely be required to spend up to nine weeks away from your primary training center.

7-9wks

Total Time Away

Just like the airlines and their multiple crew bases, you will travel to other ATP training centers during your Airline Career Pilot Program. This time away occurs during:

  • Flight Instructor Stage: During the flight instructor stage, you'll learn from a nationally awarded and recognized team of senior flight and ground instructors at one of ATP's designated flight instructor stage locations.
  • Multi-Engine Add-Ons: Learning to fly the multi-engine Seminole will involve new concepts such as multi-engine aerodynamics, emergency operations, and more complex systems.

When You Will Be Away

Flight Instructor Stage Time Away

Towards the end of your Airline Career Pilot Program, you will train at one of ATP's designated flight instructor stage locations, where you will earn your flight instructor certificate. You'll learn from ATP's most experienced instructors and achieve a higher level of certification that will allow you to gain the experience required by airlines.

Students begin the flight instructor stage with two weeks of full-time online ATP Elevate ground school followed by three to four weeks of in-person flight instruction at one of the locations below. ATP determines the training location and class date based on your training progression.
